ZI-LIFE and Molecular Mechanisms of Sweetness Sensation

Zuellig Industrial’s business unit ZI-LIFE/Philippines and Thailand together with the stevia producer Almendra hosted scientific seminars in Manila and Bangkok.

The world renowned expert for artificial sweeteners, Dr Grant DuBois from Atlanta/USA, presented his findings about the ‘Molecular Mechanisms of Sweetness Sensation’.

The active compounds of stevia can have up to 150 times the sweetness of sugar, are heat-stable, pH-stable, and not fermentable. Stevia also has a negligible effect on blood glucose, which makes stevia attractive to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets.
